September 22, 2014

I, Maulana munir hassan hereby give a brief response to the Statement made by Mr. Ebrahim Fakir

[https://www.facebook.com/ebrahim.fakir/about] on his facebook page about mosques in South Africa. Mr. Ebrahim Fakir was also interviewed by Eusebius Mckaiser on Power FM, a private, aired/broadcast to the public radio station. One can access Power FM without a subscribtion.

Below, between dotted lines is Mr. Ebrahim Fakir’s facebook post:

*Ahem ahem* – All Mosques are Open – always and forever, All the time , as One respects the
sanctity if the Mosque (as in any place
of«worship) – It is Open. Why is there a need for an “Open mosque” It’s a tautological nonsense.
All mosques are Open, To everyone [SMILING FACE]

=================

My response:

Mr. Ebrahim Fakir in response to your comment quoted below dotted line, i, Mulla munir hassan ask you:

1. At time of your writing how many mosque constitutions have you studied?

2. How have you empirically studied mosques for their openness and come to the conclusion as to openness universally obtaining. Do make available your studies in this matter?

3. Have you ever tested the openness of mosques, please publish your efforts?

Mr. Ebrahim Fakir, you are so wrong. As a muslim, a maulawi trying to appreciate intellectually the vast Islamic heritage, i and other ulama know from experience that mosques Masaajid are very closed spaces. In fact trying to open mosques is life threatening and dangerous in many ways.
Yes people have beign removed from mosques. The history of mosques lack chronicle.
Yes people have been removed from mosques.
Participation in a mosque does NOT mean just going for namaaz, or a weekly jumma, it means more. Beign allowed to through lectures, classes etc exploring Islams vast heritage.
Show me where this obtains

Mr. Ebrahim Fakir, your comment is like saying black people can come and look at a whites only beach from afar but they can NOT swim in it; black nannies can bring white children to a park but can NOT sit on the benches, use the swings; that blacks can work in a canteen, make the food, clean the canteen but they can NOT eat in it….

It is like looking at a few bantustaan elites in full regalia then saying apartheid treats blacks very well.

i, munir hassan, am available to publicly discuss this matter with you.

The Quran is an Andragogic communication

February 23, 2011

The Quran is an Andragogic communication – Adult focussed.

Nabi was an Andragogue – adult educator.

BUT we/they have reduced through the “madresa” the Quran to meaningless chanting by children.

How many muslims (South Africa) make the Quran an “object of Lifelong Study”, in Arabic, if not then in English.

Did u pack a Quran+ commentary when u went on holiday.

?How many Honours, Masters, PhDs, DLitts in Adragogy do we have?

Alaamah Abdullaah Yusuf Ali (R) Mufassir

February 23, 2011

Alaamah Abdullaah Yusuf Ali (R), Mufassir

The  winter  of  1953  was  a  harsh  one  in  Britain. On   Wednesday  9th  December, a  confused  old  man  was  found   out  of  doors, sitting  on  the  steps  of  a  house  in   Westminster. The  police  took  him  to  Westminster  Hospital. He  was  discharged  the  following  day  and  a  London  County   Council  home  for  the  elderly  in  Dovehouse  Street, Chelsea, took  him  in. He  suffered  a  heart  attack  on  10  December   and  was  rushed  to  St. Stephen’s  Hospital  in  Fulham. Three   hours  after  admission  he  died. Unusually, there  were  no   relatives  to  claim  the  body  and  arrange  for  the  funeral So, in  these  enigmatic  circumstances, ended  the  remarkable  life   of Abdullah  Yusuf  Ali, at  the  age  of  81.

Yusuf  Ali  is  best  known  for  his  monumental  English   translation  of  and  commentary  on  the  Qur’aan, first  published   in  1934  and  subsequently  printed  for  sale  and  free   distribution  on  an  unprecedented  scale. The  voluminous “Yusuf Ali”  is  a  standard  reference  in  mosques  and  homes  in   homes   in  the  English-speaking  world, perhaps  the  most  widely   circulated  work  of  twentieth-century  Islamic  scholarship. The   reputation  of  the  work  appears  to  have  been  enhanced  by   the  passage  of  time, a  tribute  to  the  authors  accurate   rendering  of  the  Qur’aanic  Arabic, command  of  English   expression  and  erudition. To  Allaah  all  belong, may  we  return  to  His  infinite  mercy.

  • Cat  Stevens‘, Yusuf  Islams, study  of  Yusuf  Alis  translation  and  commentary  of  the  Qur’aan  inducted, educated  and  welcomed  him  into  Islam. Cat  Stevens is  one  of  many.

* * * * * *

Allaamah  Muhammad  Asad(R), Mufassir

Allaamah  Muhammad  Asad’s(R)  contribution  to  the  Umma  and  humanity  at  large  include:

  • A  seminal scholarly  translation  and  commentary (tafsiir)  of  the  Qur’aan

Allaamah  Muhammad  Asad’s (R)  spent  many  years  amongst  the  Bedouin  of  Arabia  studying  Arabic  metaphor  and  idiom  in  order  to  translate  and  explain  thje  Qur’aan .

  • Translation  and  commentary  of  key  texts  dealing  with  the  First  Community [Nabi(Sal’lal’laa’hu’Alay’hi wa  Sall’lam) and  the  Sahaabah(R)]
  • Seminal  work  on  Islamic  ideology  praxis  and  theory

A  life  of  selfless  relentless  service

In  spite  of  this  it  is  heartrending  to  learn  that    Allaamah  Muhammad  Asad’s  last  days  were, to  put  it  mildly, times  of  difficulty

  • Today  many  make  fortunes$$$ pirating  Allaamah  Muhammad  Asad’s (R)  and  Allaamah  Yusuf  Ali’s (R)  works.

i   “bring”   to   attention   the   indian   scholar   dr.   m.  rafi ud din
His  book   “Ideology   of  the   Future”   is  a  published  version  of  his  phd   in  which   he   makes  a   psychological   and  philosophical   argument   for  islam,
a   careful   reading   of  this   work   will   prove   most   rewarding

i  Also   wish  to  call   attention   to   many   good   books   published   by  “sh.  muhammad  ashraf,  kashmiri  bazar  – lahore”.
Many  of   the   older   generation  purchased  many  books   by  the  publisher,   there   is   today  a   tendency  to   discard  these   books  because   they  are  aesthetically   not   so  appealing.
i   Would  like  to  caution   against  discarding  these   books  as   many   titles   are  a   real   education.

Islam in Lenasia

January 28, 2011

Lenasia has a large number of Muslims, yet we do not have a single Islamic Library, that is we do Not have a social mind, but Immensely Wealthy Racist Mutawl’lie(r)s [[“we memons, we alipors…”]] control Mega-Millions in Zakaat, waqf, sadaqa, interest. They have robbed us of our mind.
