RESPONSE to Mr. Ebrahim Fakir, his comments on mosques and their openness

September 22, 2014

I, Maulana munir hassan hereby give a brief response to the Statement made by Mr. Ebrahim Fakir

[https://www.facebook.com/ebrahim.fakir/about] on his facebook page about mosques in South Africa. Mr. Ebrahim Fakir was also interviewed by Eusebius Mckaiser on Power FM, a private, aired/broadcast to the public radio station. One can access Power FM without a subscribtion.

Below, between dotted lines is Mr. Ebrahim Fakir’s facebook post:

*Ahem ahem* – All Mosques are Open – always and forever, All the time , as One respects the
sanctity if the Mosque (as in any place
of«worship) – It is Open. Why is there a need for an “Open mosque” It’s a tautological nonsense.
All mosques are Open, To everyone [SMILING FACE]

=================

My response:

Mr. Ebrahim Fakir in response to your comment quoted below dotted line, i, Mulla munir hassan ask you:

1. At time of your writing how many mosque constitutions have you studied?

2. How have you empirically studied mosques for their openness and come to the conclusion as to openness universally obtaining. Do make available your studies in this matter?

3. Have you ever tested the openness of mosques, please publish your efforts?

Mr. Ebrahim Fakir, you are so wrong. As a muslim, a maulawi trying to appreciate intellectually the vast Islamic heritage, i and other ulama know from experience that mosques Masaajid are very closed spaces. In fact trying to open mosques is life threatening and dangerous in many ways.
Yes people have beign removed from mosques. The history of mosques lack chronicle.
Yes people have been removed from mosques.
Participation in a mosque does NOT mean just going for namaaz, or a weekly jumma, it means more. Beign allowed to through lectures, classes etc exploring Islams vast heritage.
Show me where this obtains

Mr. Ebrahim Fakir, your comment is like saying black people can come and look at a whites only beach from afar but they can NOT swim in it; black nannies can bring white children to a park but can NOT sit on the benches, use the swings; that blacks can work in a canteen, make the food, clean the canteen but they can NOT eat in it….

It is like looking at a few bantustaan elites in full regalia then saying apartheid treats blacks very well.

i, munir hassan, am available to publicly discuss this matter with you.

My ongoing struggle to pursue Arabic and Islamic Science

February 23, 2011

My  ongoing  struggle  to  pursue  Arabic  and  Islamic  Sciences

i  am  of  very  humble  origin, orphaned  at  the  age  of eleven (11). Upon  matriculation (end  1986)  i  decided  to study  Islam.

Dearest  Muslim, after  matric (1986)  i  went  out  to  ask  for  financial, moral  and  material  help  of MANY so-called  Zakaah  Funds, Islamic  and  muslim  Trusts which  are  entrusted  with Millions of  Rands  of  Zakaat, Sadaqa, Lillaah, Fitra, Kaffaara, Interest…

i  explained, in  person  and  in  writing, that  i  was  an  orphan  from  a  poor    family  eligible  for  Zakaat, Sadaqa, Lillaah, Interest…  who  like  any  Muslim  Loves  Allah, Loves  our  Kind and  Loving  Nabi  Muhammad  (SallallaahuAlayhi  wa  Salllam)  and  would  like  to  study  Islamic  Sciences  in  order  to  better  serve  our  Beautiful  Deen  AND  execute  a  Farz  Kifaayah.

Dear  Muslim, the  student  of  Islamic  Sciences  from  South  Africa  is  at  an  immense  disadvantage. While  the  school  system  academically prepares  the  student  for  university  studies in  Medicine, Sciences, Law, Humanitiesthe  South  African  matriculant  has  received  no  real  Islamic  Education in  Arabic  and  Islamic  sciences. One  must  start  these  from  scratch.

i  presented  the  academic  credentials  of  my  prospective  teachers  to  the  Zakaah  Funds  and  so-called  Islamic  and  muslim  Trustsentrusted  with  Zakaat, Sadaqa for  the  poor.

During  the  1980s  there  were  polymath (highly  learned  in  many  academic  disciplines), progressive, ijtihadist  ulama (concerned  with  the  development  of  Islamic  law  and  thought)  in  South  Africa. These  had  been  marginalized  by  retrogressive, sectarian  forcesThey  men  of  encyclopedic  and  deep   learning.

i  personally  knew  and  studied  under  few  of  them  in  South  Africa (Lenasia  and  Benoni). They  came  from  Delhi  and  Hyderabad  traditions  in  Islamic  Sciences  and  learning. Sadly, the  likes  of  these  are  no  longer  in  our  midst.

i  asked  for  Zakaat  and/or  other  funds  to  buy  writing  material, import  textbooks  from  the  Arab  world. Wallaahi  i  did  NOT  receive  a  cent  from  these so-called  Zakaah  Funds, so-called  Islamic  and  muslim  Trustswho  control  millionsss  of  Rands  of  Zakaat, Sadaqa My  correspondence  was  NEVER EVER replied to. WHENEVER  i  went  to  speak  to  the  TRUSTS  and  FUNDS  entrusted  with  Zakaat, Sadaqa i  was  made  to  feel  most  unwelcome. i  was  treated  most  shabbily. They  waged  a  war  of  attrition  against  me. Why? Maybe  they  did  not  see  ANY value  in  the  Islamic  Sciences?

My  mother, a  widow, made  foodstuff  which  she  sold  door  to  door; in  scorching  heat, in  heavy  rain, in  hail, in  the  bitter  cold. We  used  this  money  to  subsist  and  to  buy  the  necessary  educational  material. Once  my  mother  was  mauled, near  to  death by  vicious  dogs. She  was  totally  incapacitated. To  complicate  matters  my  mother  is  a  Diabetic  and  high  blood  pressure  patient.  We  had  difficulty  to  buy  basic  foodstuff  and  were  unable  buy  NECESSARY  writing  material  and  import  textbooks  from  India, Pakistan, and  the  Arab  world. Having  no  recourse  to  ANYBODY  for  help, i  again  went  to  the  many so-called  Zakaah  Funds, so-called  Islamic  and  muslim  Trusts who  control  MILLIONSSS of  Rands  of  Zakaat, Sadaqa i  explained  my  difficulty  to  them. In  many  instances  i  addressed  OBESE persons gorging away on  fish  and  chips, frikedals, polony i  also  put  my  condition  and  appeal  for  help  in  writing. i  did  not  receive  ONE  CENT  of  help  from  ANY  Trust  or  Fund  in  Zakaat, Sadaqa, interest They  refused  to  facilitate  a  medical  appointment  for  my  mother, not  even  at  a  reduced  rate.

a Cultural and Intellectual Genocide: the Destruction of Muslim Talent, Potential and Islamic Futures

February 23, 2011

a  Cultural  and  Intellectual  Genocide: the  Destruction  of   Muslim  Talent, Potential  and  Islamic  Futures

Many  sincere  Muslims  who  are

* eager  and  sincere  to  help  the  poor, destitute, retrenched

* eager  and  sincere  to  further  to  noble  Deen  of  Islam, to  further  the  Risaala (Message, Cause)  of  our  dear  and  beloved  Nabi(S)

ENTRUST their  Zakaat, Sadaqa, Lillaah, Fitra, Kaffaara, Interest, Charity to  individuals; Accountants, Lawyers, Doctors

HOWEVER, When  i  and  other  aspirant  students  and  servants of  Islam  approach  these TRUSTEES“, they  REPEATEDLY speak  to  us  most  abusively, with  EXTREME  VULGARITY, they publicly insult  us.

Persons  entrusted  with  HUGE  AMOUNTS  of  Zakaat, ETC…  tell  me  (and  others)  REPEATEDLY, IN  PUBLIC that  i  was/am

-QUOTE!–  ” a stupid  fu+@&*)&!ng ars+@&*)&!hole with  shi+@&*)&!t for  brains”  for  “wasting”  my  time  studying  Islamic  Sciences  (Arabic  grammar, morphology, rhetoric, tafsir, history),

that  if  i  had  ANY  brains  i  would  have  played  enough  soccer  and  would  be  rich  like  David  Beckham  and  not  begging  them  for  Zakaat. Allah  is  my  witness

  • May  the  eternal  wrath  of  Allah, all  the  Malaaikah, ALL  the  Shaheeds,  ALL  the  Siddiiqs  be  upon  me  if  i  am  lying.

Wallaahi, by  Allah, others  are  also  treated  similarly.

Trustees  managing  VAST  sums  of  ZAKAAT, SADAQA, LILLAAH, KAFFAARA, RIBA, INTEREST go  out  of  their  way  to  DESTROY  CIA  STYLE, THROUGH  PSYCHOLOGICAL  CAMPAIGNS, the  ikh’laas, sincere  will, and  hope  of  ulama  to  serve  Islam, humanity  and  Islamdom.

These  Agents  of  ROT, DECAY  AND  DEATH  preach  the  virtues  of  poverty  while  their  curtains  are  remote  controlled.

AsSalaamualaikum  warahmatullaah

Dearest  Muslim,  dearest  Muslima,

Aside  from  the  my tragic  example  there  many  cases  of  progressive  forward  thinking  scholar-servants  of  Islam  who,  in  spite  of  priceless  service  to  Islam  suffer/ed  grinding  poverty,  defamationmy  experience  as  a  student  of  the  Arabic  and  Islamic  sciences  are  informative.

My  ongoing  struggle  to  pursue  Arabic  and  Islamic  Sciences  in  the  South  African  context

 and

Treatment  of  the  sincere  poor  students  of  Islamic  and  Arabic  Sciences:  the  bludgeoning  of  Islamic  aspirations

i  am  of  humble  origin,  orphaned  at  the  age  of eleven (11), Upon  matriculation (end  1986)  i  decided  to study  Islam  so  as  to,  amongst  other  things:

*  accessexplore,  publish  the  Seera:  Nabi  Muhammad’s  (Sal’lal’laa’hu’ alay’hi wa  Sall’lam)  heroic  struggle  for  Mercy,  Justice,  Equity  contextualize  these  in  Southern  Africa…

*  explore   possibilities  at  unity  (today,  as  yesterday,    rival  theological  groups  have  dragged  the  heartlands  of Islam  in  a  downward  spiral  of  mutual  murder,  bombing  each  others  masjids  during  Friday  congregational  prayers.

Alaamah   Abdullaah   Yusuf   Ali (R),  Mufassir

The  winter  of  1953  was  a  harsh  one  in  Britain.  On   Wednesday  9th  December,  a  confused  old  man  was  found   out  of  doors,  sitting  on  the  steps  of  a  house  in   Westminster.  The  police  took  him  to  Westminster  Hospital.  He  was  discharged  the  following  day  and  a  London  County   Council  home  for  the  elderly  in  Dovehouse  Street,  Chelsea,   took  him  in.  He  suffered  a  heart  attack  on  10  December   and  was  rushed  to  St.  Stephen’s  Hospital  in  Fulham.  Three   hours  after  admission  he  died.  Unusually,  there  were  no   relatives  to  claim  the  body  and  arrange  for  the  funeral So,   in  these  enigmatic  circumstances,  ended  the  remarkable  life   of  Abdullah  Yusuf  Ali,  at  the  age  of  81.
