i maulaana munir hassan, Maulawi, Aalim, Faazil; present alternative readings to verse 12 of Sura Baqara(2).

verses 8 to 12
8. Of the people there are some who say: ” We believe in Allah and the Last Day “;
But they do not ( really ) believe.
9. Fain would they deceive Allah and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves, and realise ( it ) not!
10. In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease:
And grievous is the penalty they ( incur ), because they are false ( to themselves ).
11. When it is said to them: ” Make no mischief on the earth, “
They say: ” Why, we only want to make peace! “
12. A’laa innahum humul mufsiduun wa laakin laa yas’u'ruun
Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief,
But they realise ( it ) not.

Ustaad ( R ) said that Wa laakin laa yash u ruun means:
But they do NOT give a whit.
But they do NOT care.
They have no conscience whatsoever.
or
the verb ” laa yash u ruun “ can be read ” laa tash u ruun “
yielding:
Of a surety THEY are the ones who make mischief, but YOU do not realise it.
or
the verb ending may be read: ” laa yush i ruun “ meaning:
Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they do it very subtly
that they do not let you realise that they are the mischief makers.
or
Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they use proxies, third
parties, to execute their dark deeds thereby being able to deny responsibility
and YOU (the muslims) are not aware of their schemings.
